Burlington, VT - Today, Rep. Peter Welch was selected to serve on the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, a second committee assignment for the freshman legislator.
Last month, Welch was granted a position on the powerful House Committee on Rules, typically an exclusive committee appointment.
"I believe that Congress must raise the federal minimum wage to $7.25 an hour to help lift every minimum wage worker out of poverty. Today and together, we can begin to restore a balance, by rewarding work and not just wealth..."

"I strongly oppose President Bush's proposed escalation of 20,000 more troops for the war in Iraq. I believe the war's escalation is the wrong decision for America and it is the wrong decision for Iraq.
