Reps. Welch and Rothfus Launch Bipartisan House Affordable Medicines Caucus

May 1, 2014
Press Release

Today, Rep. Peter Welch (D-VT) and Rep. Keith Rothfus (R-PA) announced the formation of the bipartisan House Affordable Medicines Caucus. The caucus will provide a forum for educating Members and staff on the important role affordable medicines play in improving health outcomes and lowering health care costs.

“Bringing down the costs of prescription medicines is key to getting healthcare costs under control,” said Caucus Co-Chair Rep. Peter Welch (D-VT). “This Caucus will provide an excellent opportunity for Members and staff to discuss how Congress can build on its track record of increasing health quality while saving taxpayer dollars through access to more affordable medicine.”

The Affordable Medicines Caucus will highlight the role of affordable medications and biologics through briefings for Members and staff and promote legislative initiatives to provide high-quality care to patients at a lower cost.

“Improving access to affordable medicines can provide consumers with reduced health care costs and more options for their care” said Affordable Medicines Caucus Co-Chair Rep. Keith Rothfus (R-PA).  “I look forward to working with Congressman Welch on the Caucus.”
