WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Peter Welch issued the following statement Thursday after the House passed the Fiscal Year 2011 Continuing Resolution (H.R. 1473) by a vote of 260 to 167. The funding bill is the result of a compromise reached late last week between President Obama and Congressional leaders. Welch opposed the measure.
With a rallying cry of "America pays its bills," Rep. Peter Welch is leading an effort in the House for an extension of the federal debt limit without extraneous budget measures designed to use the issue as leverage for the budget debate currently underway.
