Rep. Peter Welch, along with Rep. Bill Owens (D-N.Y.), introduced legislation this week to help dairy farmers meet their labor needs. The H-2A Improvement Act of 2011 (H.R. 1720) would allow dairy farmers access to the H-2A visa program, which other sectors of agriculture currently use to hire foreign workers.

As big oil companies report record first quarter profits, Rep. Peter Welch took to the House floor Thursday, urging Congress to repeal taxpayer subsidies to the oil industry. Just last week, Exxon Mobil reported profits of nearly $11 billion in the first three months of the year, a 69 percent increase over last year.
