Rep. Peter Welch spent Saturday morning fishing on Lake Champlain to encourage Vermonters to get out and enjoy all the lake and local businesses have to offer. Lake and recreational related business has been slow due to the unusually wet spring in Vermont.

Peter Welch joined Vermont sportsmen and small business owners in calling for an end to ethanol subsidies, which costs taxpayers $6 billion annually, drive up food prices and cause damage to small engines such as those used in boats, motorcycles and lawnmowers.

Vermont's congressional delegation tonight sent a letter to President Barack Obama supporting Gov. Peter Shumlin's request for federal disaster assistance in the wake of severe flooding across Vermont.
The delegation letter sought help "in the wake of unprecedented rainfall, spring runoff and turbulent storms that included high winds and hail."
