Over the past couple of years U.S. Representative Peter Welch and congressional friends from both sides of the aisle have succeeded in rolling back Food and Drug Administration (FDA) rules that Mr. Welch has said could have harmed Vermont businesses.
Vermont’s Congressional Delegation is working to establish sanctions on big companies who advertise that their products contain “maple” when, in fact, they contain no actual maple syrup.
Vermont sugarmakers back their efforts 100%.
Jon Skates, former Rutland alderman, is retired from the U.S. Navy, where he served in the submarine service. Now, he’s in a managerial role at Casella Waste Management.
Skates said he was worried his military training wouldn’t transfer into the civilian workforce and he would have difficulty landing a job.
WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama will be joined by Rep. Peter Welch, D-Vermont, and Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vermont, on his historic trip to Cuba.
The historic trip is scheduled to start March 20. This is the first time a U.S. president has visited Cuba since 1928.
