Rep. Peter Welch issued the following statement on Wednesday following the announcement by University of Vermont President Dan Fogel that he will step down next year.

"Dan Fogel arrived at the University of Vermont nearly ten years ago amid high expectations for stable leadership and long-term vision. He has more than delivered. Regardless of the many challenges he encountered, Dan always kept his eye on the ball of transforming UVM into one of the premier public universities in the nation. I applaud his strong record of accomplishment and am grateful for his tireless leadership and service to our state and the nation."
